A model of a spirit dugout canoe, from the Asmat village in New Guinea. Late 20th Century.
A replica of the large canoes they use for transportation and fishing, this smaller model is hand-carved in the same wood, sculpted with the same figures and decorated with the same natural pigment and materials.
