Khmer Ceramic Vase, 14-15th Century
$1,200.00
Product Description
A baluster-shaped Khmer ceramic vase, Central Thailand, 14-15th Century.
Multi-tier mouth, ribbed neck and base. Impressed undulations around the shoulder, accentuated with impressed star motifs, plus a scalloped haute-relief decoration around the body.
the Khmer ceramics tradition did not disappeared after the 15th Cantury. Jars bearing strong Khmer stylistic imprints in terms of shape (in particular the baluster shape) and decorations, were produced in the 14th century in the kilns of Suphan Buri and Si Satchanalai in Northern central Thailand.
This jar, reclaimed from those kilns, is very well preserved and showcases the Khmer style in very good detail.
